Your First Visit

Many people aren’t sure what to expect when they schedule their first massage, but let me assure you, there is nothing to be nervous about!  Although no two massages are alike, there are some things that are typical to each session. Your session will take place in a quiet, comfortable dimly lit environment. Soothing music is often played to help you relax. Prior to your session, you will be asked to fill out a health history form. Which enable me to properly access your massage needs.  I will inquire as to why you are seeking massage therapy, and about any injuries or medical conditions you may have. if you have any skin sensitivities or allergies, that will be the time to let me know. I may also ask you for additional information that will help ensure that you have the most pleasant and successful session possible. I will excuse myself so that you can disrobe to whatever level you are comfortable with.. You will then get on the table – either face up or face down – under the sheet and cover provided. During your session, you will be draped (covered) at all times, and only the area being worked on will be exposed. A typical full-body session includes your back, legs, glutes, feet, hands, arms, shoulders, neck, scalp and face. You may request that I spend additional or less time on a specific area. Light lotion is often used, so you’ll be asked if you have any preferences or particular dislikes.

During the massage, please make sure to communicate with me about the pressure I am applying. I am normally quite aware of whether using light or deep pressure is appropriate in any given situation, however it is encouraged that you let me know how you feel. If you want more or less pressure, be sure to communicate that—your massage is all about you. When your massage session is complete, I will again leave the room so that you can get dressed. Sit up slowly and take your time getting dressed. After Your massage We will discuss your needs, and my recommendations for your next treatment, which we can then schedule at your convenience.

Please be sure to drink plenty of water after your massage. Over the next few days (after your treatment), you may experience soreness if you requested a deep tissue massage. To alleviate any discomfort, apply an ice pack to the area. Please be sure to let me know about any level of discomfort you’ve experienced, so we can adjust the pressure or consider other options for your next session.
